Why this series still plays
The 2004 reimagining, not the 1978 original — wartime politics in a fleet that never gets to rest. Watch it for occupation allegory, for faith arguments that actually cost something, and for a fandom that still litigates the last jump. So say we all, then argue in the tags.

Edward James Olmos commanded Battlestar Galactica as Admiral William Adama — gravel, duty, and political sci-fi with real teeth. Miami Vice's Lieutenant Martin Castillo came earlier; Adama made him genre prestige's moral backbone. On TV…
- Mary McDonnell as Laura Roslin
Mary McDonnell’s Laura Roslin is the civilian command of Battlestar Galactica — the president in a fleet that never gets to rest, Ronald D. Moore’s 2004 reimagining rather than the 1978 original. Syfy space opera became wartime liturgy;…
- Katee Sackhoff as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace
Katee Sackhoff’s Kara “Starbuck” Thrace is Battlestar Galactica’s wartime swagger — Ronald D. Moore’s 2004 reimagining, Syfy space opera as fandom liturgy, a fleet that is also a government. Not the 1978 original. On TV Flash she is…
- Jamie Bamber as Lee "Apollo" Adama
Jamie Bamber’s Lee “Apollo” Adama is Battlestar Galactica as the son in the cockpit — wartime politics with a viper, a last name that is already a command structure. Moore’s 2004 reimagining made occupation allegory out of a fleet. On TV…
- James Callis as Gaius Baltar
James Callis’s Gaius Baltar is Battlestar Galactica’s brilliant coward — political sci-fi with a man who cannot stop surviving himself. Ronald D. Moore’s 2004 reimagining turned Syfy space opera into wartime liturgy. On TV Flash Baltar is…
- Tricia Helfer as Number Six
Tricia Helfer’s Number Six made the 2004 Battlestar Galactica a wartime liturgy — Ronald D. Moore’s reimagining, not the 1978 original, occupation allegory, faith arguments that cost something, a fandom that still litigates the last jump.…
