Sen. James Lankford, Rep. Ro Khanna, Hoda Kotb, Dr. Demetre Daskalakis
Season 2025, Episode 34 · Aired 2025-08-31

Synopsis
In an exclusive interview with Meet the Press, Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) says "the Federal Reserve is at its best when it's independent" but "they're not independent of the entire American people," adding that President Trump has a role to play in engaging with the economy. Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., said that Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook should release her mortgage documents but accused President Donald Trump of "following Richard Nixon's playbook to interfere with" the Federal Reserve. Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, the former director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, joins Meet the Press NOW to discuss why he resigned from the agency and the future health policies under the Trump administration. Former "Today" co-anchor Hoda Kotb joins Kristen Welker for a Meet the Moment conversation about landing her dream job later in life and adopting children in her fifties.
