Why this series still plays
After-school alchemy: American teens, Japanese monster footage, and a morphing sequence that still fires like a commercial jingle. Color-coded teamwork, Rita Repulsa scenery chewing, and a merch supernova that ate toy aisles. Kids’ action as ritual — helmets on, homework off — and the franchise template every reboot still salutes even when the suits look shinier.
So about after-school: American teens, Japanese monster footage, a morphing sequence that still fires like a commercial jingle, and a group chat that will fight you about the helmets. Haim Saban and Shuki Levy brought the U.S. premiere in 1993 on Fox Kids. Color-coded teamwork, Rita Repulsa scenery chewing, merch supernova that ate toy aisles. (I said spoiler-free. The morph is the whole show.) **Tommy is the fandom fact you do not get to shrug off.**
