Start at Wolferton Splash if you want the assignment to make sense. The Diana block is the loud look; Foy's seasons teach you the house rules the later actresses are wearing.

Why this series still plays
Watch it as a six-season fitting: three actresses wearing one job, Diana as a silhouette the cameras already thought they owned, and palace image-management as the actual plot. The jewels are punctuation. The posture is the sentence.
The first image is not a crown. It is a young woman in a coat that already knows more than the men in the room. Claire Foy's Elizabeth arrives like a held breath in wool: posture as policy, pearls as punctuation, a face that understands cameras because the cameras invented her job. Netflix did not drop a history lesson in November 2016. It dropped a fitting. Six seasons later the fabric changes, the actress changes, the century changes. The assignment does not.
