Why this series still plays
Ballroom houses, AIDS-era New York, gold light, categories as survival. Murphy, Falchuk, and Canals built FX drama around the largest trans cast in scripted TV at debut: MJ Rodriguez, Billy Porter, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore. Voguing is text, not garnish. Three seasons of chosen family as nation — history as ballroom opera, Porter's Emmy included.
Gold light, fierce categories, a house that is a nation. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Steven Canals built FX's *Pose* (June 3, 2018) around the largest transgender cast in a scripted series at debut. Chosen families in New York's ball scene fight for dignity as the AIDS crisis and gentrification close in. MJ Rodriguez's Blanca, Billy Porter's Pray Tell, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, and the houses make voguing text, not garnish. The work is the runway: radical sincerity without irony armor.
