Alison Fanelli

Pete & Pete is a town that behaves like a short story: two Petes, summer as a religion, bands in garages, a strongest man on the block. Fanelli’s Ellen Hickle is the friend who keeps the poetry attached to a person — kid logic as literature, gentle without going soft. She plays the neighbor as a lead. Watch it as 1990s Nickelodeon adults still hunt. Ellen is why the suburb has a girl in it.

1993–1996 on Nickelodeon: The Adventures of Pete & Pete as the room, Ellen Hickle as Fanelli's job, 1990s as the tag. s01e01 is the door — The King of the Road: endless summer as literature, kid logic already behaving like an indie film. s01e07 keeps the climate: When Petes Collide: the name joke as plot engine, Artie the Strongest Man still the suburb's myth. Stay for the craft. The filing already named the set.

Cult TV that refuses to become a punchline about the decade. On TV Flash Fanelli is live-action lyric. Stay for the friend the brothers actually talk to. Artie is the myth. The series is the block. She made a kid-logic universe photograph as a friendship, which is why the hour still feels like a tape you recorded off the air.

Nickelodeon ran The Adventures of Pete & Pete from 1993–1996. Fanelli's Ellen Hickle is the assignment, not a footnote in the credits. File s01e01 as ignition: The King of the Road: endless summer as literature, kid logic already behaving like an indie film. s02e01 is later weather: Grounded for Life: garage-band weather, weird without winking, Nickelodeon live-action at its most poetic on purpose. That is the gossip: Ellen Hickle as work, The Adventures of Pete & Pete as the room.
