D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai

D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai plays Bear Smallhill on Reservation Dogs, the Oklahoma teen at the center of Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi’s 2020s comedy. Grief, hustle, spirit guides, and funerals share episodes without asking permission. Woon-A-Tai is the engine — a Smallhill who makes the reservation feel lived-in rather than explained, three complete seasons with an Indigenous writers’ room at the center.

FX kept Reservation Dogs on from 2021–2023. Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi’s 2020s comedy with an Indigenous writers’ room at the center. D'Pharaoh supplies Bear Smallhill as craft, not a borrowed cameo. The years on the spine are the file; what he does inside them is the craft.

Do not hunt a recap of D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai. File s01e01 as the door. The titled rez-dogs opener: Sterlin Harjo's teens already mixing hustle and grief, Indigenous writers' room at the center, no permission asked. s03e10 is the turn. Dig as the complete-series closer: three seasons ending in the ground and the joke, lived-in characters rather than a lesson, FX at full tonal range. Reservation Dogs still argues at s02e01. The Curse as season-two ignition: spirit-guide comedy still sharing the hour with funerals, the freest 2020s tonal mix refusing a prestige rinse.

The freest tonal range on 2020s television still needed a face who could hold a joke and a wound in the same glance. On TV Flash he is catalog-era lead craft: Bear as the reason the series photographs as a life, not a lesson. D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai stays Bear Smallhill in the Reservation Dogs drawer — FX, 2021–2023 — and the temperature holds.
