Frank Sutton

Frank Sutton plays Sgt. Vince Carter on Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., the 1960s spin that sent Mayberry's gas-station innocent into the Marines. Jim Nabors bounces kindness off Sutton's volcanic sergeant. It was a ratings machine that never let Vietnam into the barracks joke. Sutton's Carter is volume as craft — a man who photographs as rage and plays as the necessary straight-man explosion. Nabors's vocal comic timing needs that blast.

Sgt. Vince Carter photographs as CBS habit because Frank Sutton played the years (1964–1969) like a workplace. Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. Vince Carter on Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.

See Frank Sutton against s01e01 before arguing the afterlife — Gomer Overcomes the Obstacle Course is the spinoff contract: Mayberry's gas-station innocent in the Marines, Nabors versus Sutton's Carter. s01e10 keeps Sgt. Vince Carter from thinning (A Date for the Colonel's Daughter — early-run manners farce, kindness bouncing off volcanic rank without leaving the base). s02e01 is still the climate (PFC Gomer Pyle opens season two on a promotion gag: the ratings machine already in dress greens).

On TV Flash he is catalog military-comedy steel. Watch the last great barracks farce of the era; stay for Carter as the reason kindness had a foil. We file Sutton as 1960s voltage: the sergeant who made a spin-off sound like a shout and a hug. Frank Sutton is still how Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. looks when the concept has to become a person.

File Frank Sutton and stop. Sgt. Vince Carter is the craft CBS actually used, and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. is still the place to see it without a documentary voiceover.
