Holland Taylor

Holland Taylor plays Evelyn Harper on Two and a Half Men, the 2000s Chuck Lorre Malibu joke engine that printed money and then became a public implosion. Charlie Sheen's hedonist, Jon Cryer's sad-sack brother, a kid on the couch. Evelyn is the mother as a weapon: a woman who makes the multi-cam purr sound like it has a parent the boys cannot fire. Taylor does insult comedy in a blouse that costs more than the plot. Watch the machine; then watch the tabloids eat the cast.

If the question is where Taylor actually works, the answer is Two and a Half Men. CBS, 2003–2015, Evelyn Harper in the credits. s01e01: Pilot installs the Malibu joke engine: Charlie Sheen's hedonist, Jon Cryer's sad-sack, a kid on the couch — multi-cam purring before the tabloids ate it. s12e16: Of Course He's Dead - Part Two is the closer after the most public sitcom implosion of the decade — the machine taking a bow it once seemed unable to. Two stamps beat a biography box.

TV Flash files her as sitcom-matriarch craft that outlasted the headlines' favorite targets. On this desk Taylor is 2000s voltage: an Evelyn who photographs as the monster mom and plays as the reason the beach house still had a generation above the punchlines.

Queue s02e01 when you already know the seating. Back Off, Mary Poppins reopens year two already in catchphrase clothes: Lorre's money printer at full confidence, the beach house still a punchline factory. 2000s CBS hours argue better from that stamp than from a sidebar. File Taylor there as Evelyn Harper.
