Louise Belcher
Kristen Schaal
Kristen Schaal’s Louise Belcher is the pink-eared coup of Bob’s Burgers — kids generating beautiful problems, songs erupting without warning — and she doubled as Mabel Pines’s summer-supernatural heart on Gravity Falls. Kindest adult animation; serialized kids’ mystery done right. TV Flash files her as 2010s voice voltage with a knife in the giggle.
Loren Bouchard’s Bob’s Burgers runs a struggling joint while the Belcher kids mint chaos. Schaal’s Louise is the plot in a bunny-ear hat: specificity, schemes, a joke that does not sand off the edge for network comfort. Bob’s anxiety, Linda’s whoop, Tina-Gene-Louise as a three-headed weather system. Kindest long-running adult animation of the decade without losing the bite. Louise is the bite.
The desk files Bob's Burgers under Fox 2011–present. Louise Belcher is the temperature Schaal brought to the room. s16e15 is a useful mid-run tab — Smellbound is the latest burger-joint hour on the calendar — kindest long-running adult animation still serving without a finale hedge. The handshake remains s01e01: Human Flesh is the kitchen rumor as launch: Belchers, anxiety, whoop, kids generating problems on Fox animation night one. That is the gossip: Louise Belcher as work, Bob's Burgers as the room.
Gravity Falls gave her Mabel opposite Dipper’s paranormal summer with Grunkle Stan: journals, cryptograms, Bill Cipher, sibling love as the real supernatural. Alex Hirsch built ARG energy into Disney television and ended it cleanly. On TV Flash Schaal is the rare voice who can do burger-joint menace and mystery-cabin joy in the same decade without repeating the laugh.
Schaal's Mabel Pines lives on Gravity Falls — Disney XD from 2012–2016, 2010s weather still attached. s01e01 is the door — Tourist Trapped opens Dipper and Mabel's paranormal summer: journals, cryptograms, sibling love as the real supernatural. s02e20 keeps the climate: Weirdmageddon (3): Take Back the Falls is Hirsch ending it cleanly — ARG energy that actually closed, Cipher as last carnival. Watch the hour, not a clip farm. Schaal is still the assignment.
