Martin Short

Martin Short plays Oliver Putnam on Only Murders in the Building, the Broadway ham in a trio with Steve Martin and Selena Gomez investigating the Arconia. Chemistry that could carry a silent film. True-crime podcast fans as found family; amateur sleuthing as Sunday-watch energy. Short is the volume with a wound — funny, twisty, low cruelty, mystery-box comfort with A-list farce chops. A failed artist as a detective. The building as a company of players.

Network first, myth second: Only Murders in the Building stayed in the weekly weather on Hulu from 2021–. Short's Oliver Putnam is the human occupancy. s01e01 is the start line. True Crime as the Hulu contract: Martin, Short, and Gomez already a silent-film trio, podcast fandom as found family inside the Arconia. Short on Only Murders in the Building remains catalog craft on Hulu from 2021–.

Short is not visiting. Oliver Putnam is a weekly position — supporting in the billing, central in the frame. s05e10 keeps the temperature. Latest listed hour, house-always logic: fifth-season period on mystery-box comfort that still prefers twisty farce to cruelty. s02e01 is the later check. Persons of Interest as season-two launch: the amateur sleuths now famous enough to be suspects, Sunday-watch energy still the product. That is the catalog use of Short — a person in a timeslot, not a statue.

Comfort mystery as a drop-era event. Oliver photographs as the joke and plays as the hunger that keeps the podcast recording. On TV Flash Short is 2020s catalog sparkle: the Putnam who made a murder club feel like a troupe, then left the Arconia looking like it needed a ham to survive the twist.
