John C. McGinley

John C. McGinley plays Dr. Perry Cox on Scrubs, the mentor-terror inside Bill Lawrence’s medical comedy-drama. Intern J.D. narrates hospital life with surreal cutaways that can turn devastating mid-needle. Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, and McGinley as found family. Silly and sincere in the same hallway sprint. Cox is the bark that is also the care, a nickname as a love language. The NBC/ABC window is 2001–2010.

John C. McGinley needs an hour that still introduces itself: s01e01. My First Day installs J.D.'s narration: Bill Lawrence's intern comedy-drama, surreal cutaways already willing to break your heart mid-needle. Pins two and three in the pack are s09e13 and s02e01. Our Thanks is the ABC med-school coda closer — after the original Sacred Heart found family, a ninth-season bow the cult still litigates. Here the angle is mentor-terror, a nickname as tuition.

The ninth-season arguments can wait. On TV Flash McGinley is 2000s hospital-comedy craft: Perry as the reason Sacred Heart photographs as a family with a board, insults as tuition, a performance that makes the joke and the wound share a needle.

John C. McGinley leaves Scrubs looking inhabited. Perry Cox is supporting, not optional — filed as 2000s mentor-comedy steel with a nickname for everyone. Turn hour: s09e13. Our Thanks is the ABC med-school coda closer — after the original Sacred Heart found family, a ninth-season bow the cult still litigates. 2000s craft you can still use.

A second look at s02e01 is allowed. My Overkill reopens year two with the title already winking at the show's gear-shifts: silly and sincere sharing the same hallway sprint. McGinley does not clock out.
