Nick Bakay

Nick Bakay voices Salem Saberhagen on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, the 1990s TGIF fantasy that parked a talking cat and two witch aunts in a teenager’s locker weather. Melissa Joan Hart learning spells, mortal-boy problems, magic as an after-school accessory. Bakay’s Salem is deadpan as house style: a cat who makes the enchantment feel like a sitcom, a voice that treats the hex as a punchline.

Nick Bakay makes Salem Saberhagen a person you can schedule on Sabrina the Teenage Witch (ABC/The WB, 1996–2003). Nick Bakay is the temperature ABC/The WB actually had to cast for the 1996–2003 run. He is load-bearing even when the credits refuse to shout. Nick Bakay is still Salem Saberhagen doing the hour's actual labor after the premise speech ends. Nick Bakay remains Salem Saberhagen on Sabrina the Teenage Witch (ABC/The WB, 1996–2003), the temperature the hour still uses.

Nick Bakay's contract hour is s01e01. Talking cat, two witch aunts, Melissa Joan Hart learning spells between locker drama — TGIF fantasy as teen brand. Nick Bakay's turn still photographs at s02e01. Sabrina Gets Her License, part one: magic as after-school accessory, Salem's deadpan already the co-lead. Nick Bakay after the novelty tax is s04e01 — No Place Like Home: network hop mid-run, mortal-boy problems still the A-plot under the enchantment.

The hour hopped networks mid-run and still plays like comfort candy. Salem is why the joke has a narrator. On TV Flash Bakay is 1990s catalog spark — the Saberhagen who made a witch hour feel like a monologue, and the reason the series still photographs as a cat instead of a Halloween special.
