Sam Jaffe

Sam Jaffe plays Dr. David Zorba on Ben Casey, mentor weather in the grim twin of Kildare. Vince Edwards's intense neurosurgeon, a chalkboard creed — man, woman, birth, death, infinity. ABC wanted adult hospital drama, not just bedside charm. Jaffe sells the starker medical hour of the early sixties, when a brood could still be a philosophy. The intern had the glare; Zorba had the sentence.

Sam Jaffe does not wander in from another magazine; Dr. David Zorba is the Ben Casey job, ABC night, 1961–1966 as the span. s01e01 still opens without a lecture — To the Pure opens ABC's starker hospital: Vince Edwards's intensity, Sam Jaffe's Zorba, man-woman-birth-death-infinity as the creed.

Charm was the other network. On TV Flash Jaffe is 1960s hospital craft: the teacher who made a ward hour photograph as a creed, then left the pinup to Kildare.

Sam Jaffe as Dr. David Zorba is not a first-hour-only trick; s02e01 on Ben Casey is the second stance: Mrs. McBroom and the Cloud Watcher — season-two title as character weather, adult medical hour rather than intern charm. s04e01 keeps a sideways coordinate — August is the Month Before Christmas opens season four still in the grim key: bedside without the magazine smile. Supporting, and load-bearing. Dr. David Zorba is not the logo of Ben Casey; Sam Jaffe is why the marquee still has a world.

Stay inside Ben Casey. Dr. David Zorba is 1960s work on ABC, 1961–1966 on the spine, and a second magazine page will not make him clearer. The picks are a map: s01e01, s02e01, s04e01. Play them as position. Sam Jaffe is already the pulse the filing asked for.
