How this season is filed

Filed by Tessa Quinn · Spoiler-Free (Mostly)

Keenen Ivory Wayans's Fox sketch house: hip-hop energy, a mostly Black ensemble, and dance breaks between bits. Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, the Wayans bench, David Alan Grier — stars minted in public. Fire Marshal Bill, Homey, Wanda, and Fly Girls that included Jennifer Lopez. Five seasons that made a young network feel dangerous and funny at once.
