Fashion as threat display. Bored intelligence analyst Eve Polastri becomes enthralled with stylish psychopath assassin Villanelle — chase as courtship, pink as a dare. Phoebe Waller-Bridge wrote season one from Luke Jennings's *Codename Villanelle* novels for BBC America (April 8, 2018). Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer make obsession look like chemistry and danger; Comer won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Fiona Shaw and Kim Bodnia keep the spy apparatus dryly lethal. **This was a hard launch in a killer silhouette.**

Four seasons (2018–2022), thirty-two episodes, never fully escaped season-one voltage in the discourse. Waller-Bridge wrote the first year; later seasons had different writers and showrunners, and quality wars followed. Dark comedy, fashion-forward set pieces, queer-coded cat-and-mouse tension. Season one is the closed courtship in couture.

Spy television that treats longing as the real tradecraft — four seasons, thirty-two episodes, Comer's Emmy riding season-one voltage the discourse never quite escaped. Waller-Bridge wrote the first year from Jennings; later heat was a different vintage. The airport-departure version is the quality war. The gown — Villanelle's, obviously — was the argument the culture could not stop photographing.
