Meet the Press is the longest-running show in television history: Sunday panel combat as civic ritual, Martha Rountree's founding power too often soft-pedaled. Defined the public-affairs interview still central to U.S. politics. In 2026 you watch it as the original must-quote hour — politicians on a panel, not a podcast.

TV Flash files Season 1947 of Meet the Press (1947–present) on NBC as the first listed season of 14 — 2 listed hours, 1947-11-06–1947-11-13 from “Pilot” (S1947E01) to “Meet the Press” (S1947E02). Broadcast log — titles and dates, not a plot bible.
