Sterlin Harjo's Tulsa noir: Ethan Hawke as a shambling truthstorian bookseller digging into a death and the land deals underneath it. Post-Reservation Dogs prestige that keeps Indigenous storytelling in the center instead of as garnish. Watch for late-career Hawke shagginess used as a detective method, not a costume.

Desk essentials in this season

1. S01E01 Pilot

The pilot as Tulsa-noir contract: Sterlin Harjo after Reservation Dogs, Ethan Hawke as shambling truthstorian, a death with land deals underneath.

2. S01E08 The Sensitive Kind

The Sensitive Kind as the eight-episode close: prestige that keeps Indigenous storytelling in the center, still bookseller gumshoe, still not a coastal rinse.

3. S01E02 The Devil's Mama

The Devil's Mama as the second-hour name: Harjo's noir still local, still Hawke shambling, still land as the actual antagonist.

4. S01E03 Dinosaur Memories

Dinosaur Memories as the titled deep time: Oklahoma as archive, still a death to dig, still post-Reservation Dogs craft rather than a copy.

5. S01E04 Short on Cowboys

Short on Cowboys as the anti-western hour: the title refusing the genre's manpower, still Tulsa, still a bookseller who will not leave the deal alone.
