How this season is filed

Daytime talk becomes a weather system: book club, makeover, confession, and a Black woman host who outgrows every rival format. The 1986 syndication rise is the origin of modern influencer power, except the product is Oprah herself. Early Chicago-era hours still have the Donahue challenge; later ones show how empathy became an empire.
