The Queen’s Gambit made chess into a fashion event — Anya Taylor-Joy as a problem the room could not look away from, in seven complete hours.

TV Flash files Season 1 of The Queen's Gambit (2020) on Netflix as the only listed season — 7 listed hours, 2020-10-23 from “Openings” (S01E01) to “End Game” (S01E07). Titles, dates, and synopses on file — no invented recaps.

Desk essentials in this season

  1. S01E01 Openings

First silhouette. The orphanage palette teaches the camera what hunger looks like in wool.

  2. S01E02 Exchanges

The wardrobe starts to travel. Rooms become fittings; the game is already clothes.

  3. S01E04 Middle Game

Mid-board, mid-collection. The line gets sharper because the character does.

  4. S01E05 Fork

A title that is also a threat. One look as a declaration, not a season-long tease.

  5. S01E07 End Game

Last image, complete product. No renewal still required.

  1. S01E01

    Openings

Sent to an orphanage at age 9, Beth develops an uncanny knack for chess — and a growing dependence on the green tranquilizers given to the children.

Pilot note — From the desk: The Queen's Gambit opens its catalog run with “Openings” (2020-10-23). Proved a niche subject could become a global phenomenon and fashion reset. Anya Taylor-Joy supernova, chess set sellouts, and Beth Harmon cosplay everywhere.

  2. S01E02

    Exchanges

Suddenly plunged into a confusing new life in suburbia, teenage Beth studies her high school classmates and hatches a plan to enter a chess tournament.

  3. S01E03

    Doubled Pawns

The trip to Cincinnati launches Beth and her mother into a whirlwind of travel and press coverage. Beth sets her sights on the U.S. Open in Las Vegas.

  4. S01E04

    Middle Game

Russian class opens the door to a new social scene. In Mexico City, Beth meets the intimidating Borgov, while her mother cozies up to a pen pal.

  5. S01E05

    Fork

Back home in Kentucky, a shaken Beth reconnects with a former opponent who offers to help sharpen her game ahead of the U.S. Championship.

  6. S01E06

    Adjournment

After training with Benny in New York, Beth heads to Paris for her rematch with Borgov. But a wild night sends her into a self-destructive spiral.

  7. S01E07

    End Game

A visit from an old friend forces Beth to reckon with her past and rethink her priorities — just in time for the biggest match of her life.

Finale note — From the desk: The guide closes on “End Game” (2020-10-23) — a series bookend worth the package context. Anya Taylor-Joy supernova, chess set sellouts, and Beth Harmon cosplay everywhere.
